Hey guys, somewhat quick question. So I just downloaded fallout 4 and was going to mod it and what not. I installed it on my D drive because of storage reasons, but this is different than the drive Skyrim SE is currently installed in. Vortex says that mods can't be deployed since the staging folder is is on C drive and not D drive with the game.

Since it is the mod staging folder, you don't put it in your game folder, because it's not the mod deployment folder, it's the folder that Vortex relies on to make it easier to deploy the appropriate files (meaning if there is a file that is used twice in two mods, it will deploy the higher priority file).

Then you could set up d:\vortex mods and all games on D would use that. And so on. Not sure how you've been setting up your folders and games in the past. But if you may want to set up a dedicated modding folder.

11 Mar 2020 Like NMM and MO2, Vortex can install anything into the Data folder. The only This must be a different directory than your mod staging folder.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior: Go to Settings -> Mods Click on Suggest to get new directory for mod st Message. EINVAL: invalid argument, rename 'F:\Vortex Mods\skyrimse__vortex_staging_folder (2).installing__vortex_staging_folder (2)' -> 'F:\Vortex Mods\skyrimse I copy pasted the folders from the back up into the new staging folder. I then enabled all the mods in vortex, however none of the installers that let you pick between different options appeared. I then verified that my plugin list is the same by running skyrim se and loading a save from before the hdd issues and nothing was missing. I'm trying to get Vortex set up as a clean install, I'll re-download mods I want so no need to transfer. My problem is that it says it can't write to skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini since it wants them on C drive, and I have them still in D drive.

However I  26 Feb 2021 I moved it over to the C: Drive, as well as moving the mod staging folder via Vortex.
